Accessibility Statement

Effective: 09 בFebruary 2026
v1.1
Updated: 09/02/2026

1. Our Commitment

We believe the internet should be accessible to everyone. Swapli is committed to meeting the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard — the internationally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines — and works continuously to improve the user experience for all users, including people with disabilities.

Additionally, we comply with:

  • Israeli Standard 5568 — Website Accessibility Requirements in Israel.
  • EN 301 549 — European Accessibility Standard.

2. Current Accessibility Status

Following an accessibility audit conducted in February 2026, the website meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements across all tested pages. Below is a summary of the key accessibility features:

Navigation and Structure

  • Skip link ("Skip to main content") on every page.
  • Logical heading structure (h1 → h2 → h3) on all pages.
  • DOM order matches visual order, with full support for right-to-left (RTL) direction.
  • All pages are configured with lang="he" and dir="rtl".

Keyboard and Focus

  • All interactive components are accessible via keyboard.
  • Focus indicators are visible on all components.
  • No keyboard traps.
  • Logical tab order.

Color and Contrast

  • All text meets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 (regular text) and 3:1 (large text).
  • Interface components (borders, focus indicators, form fields) meet a 3:1 ratio.
  • Color contrast has been verified through automated testing (Playwright).

Forms and Components

  • Every form field has a clear label.
  • Clear and specific error messages.
  • Icon buttons include accessibility labels in Hebrew (aria-label).
  • Dynamic content updates are properly announced (ARIA live regions).

Images and Content

  • Alternative text (alt) for all images.
  • Descriptive link text.
  • Screen reader text in Hebrew (sr-only).

3. Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, there are a limited number of limitations:

User-Generated Content

Images uploaded by members may not include complete alternative text. We encourage members to add descriptions to images, but we cannot enforce this.

Property Amenities Selection Components

The property amenities selection buttons during home registration still do not include full ARIA roles. We are working on a fix.

Third-Party Components

Some external integrations (payment processing via Stripe, identity verification via Didit) may have limited accessibility that is outside our control. We are working with our vendors on continuous improvement.

4. Accessibility Information for Properties

We encourage all members to include accessibility information in their property listings:

  • Wheelchair accessibility
  • Step-free access
  • Ground floor rooms
  • Grab bars and accessibility features
  • Elevator access
  • Parking accessibility

5. Testing and Methodology

The most recent accessibility audit was conducted in February 2026 and included:

  • Compliance testing for WCAG 2.1 Level A and Level AA — all criteria passed successfully.
  • Automated color contrast testing using Playwright on the homepage, login, property list, and individual property pages.
  • Keyboard navigation testing on all main pages.
  • Screen reader testing with Hebrew labels.

The website is built with Radix UI components that provide built-in support for keyboard navigation, focus management, and ARIA features.
